True to its mandate as the basic unit of SFC’s pastoral structure, the household:
1. builds faith and provides for mutual encouragement through sharing of life experiences and God’s practical wisdom.
2. provides friendship (brotherhood/sisterhood) without which our Christian life lacks joyful expression
3. provides support for each other’s need
4. helps people overcome obstacles to growing Christian life.
HOUSEHOLD LESSON
Prayer
It is in household that one is introduced to prayer. Daily prayer on a personal basis and communal prayer as family and as household build the value of a quiet and listening heart to the prompting of the Spirit. This is further strengthening through God’s word in Scripture.
Friendship
It is in the household where one establishes good and deep friendships with brothers and sisters who long to know the Lord more personally. This common bond brings them together and provides reasons for their desire to discover one another through relationship. Friendships extend beyond the household to their respective families; thus the beginning of an authentic, small community is established.
Concern
It is the household where real and honest concern for brethren is fostered. A significant move of the Spirit in the CLP is a radical turn of interest from self to the other.
Generosity
It is in the household where, beyond concern, genuine generosity is likewise practice and experienced. Generosity is put into action when household members come to a need situation whether for material, emotional, or spiritual causes. In this case, the kind of offer may vary from money to advice to prayers.
Listening
It is in the household where brethren are challenged to listen for needs that may never be verbally expressed. Listening to a myriad of personal concerns and social distractions can truly prove to be a challenge in the household.
Wonderment
It is within household environment that wonder at God’s miraculous movement in our personal lives is strongly sensed. It is therefore major objective of the household head that a deep sense of the Spirit be inculcated in the mind and heart consciousness of all household members.
Relationship
The core of SFC life is brotherhood and sisterhood initiated and deepened in household. As member prays, exchange ideas and fellowship, they grow together knowing loving and serving the Lord more intimately in their lives.
With this in mind, I hope I encourage every one of you to recognize the importance of being committed in our household. For it really is vital in helping us grow together in our journey toward Christ. I hope that despite our busy schedules at school, at work and all our other endeavors. Please take time to be with Him. He is waiting. Don’t Be Under Satan’s Yoke.
